2 Years in the QC

This past weekend we checked off a major milestone in our time here at Palmer... Cameron received his white coat! I can hardly believe that we have officially been out here for 2 whole years and that Cam has successfully passed all classes to get to this point. He has been working so hard, and I am a very proud
wife.

When we came out to tour Palmer 3 years ago in 2022, they warned us that a lot of students inevitably end up failing courses and have to slow down to a reduced class load rather than staying on the accelerated schedule. I was nervous that this would be the case with us, and those first few trimesters were intense classes! However, Cam studied so very hard and has been able to pass every single class. He is now entering into his seventh trimester, and once that one it is over, it's all downhill from there! This next trimester will be spent in the school clinic, and in a few classes. He will be splitting his time between the two and most likely won't be home most days until after 5:00. The days for us will be long, but come next spring He should be done by 1:00 everyday and he can come home to take care of me and the boys. I cannot wait for that!

White coat was a great day, both sets of our parents, and Cameron's Grandparents (Todd and Debbie) were able to come. We spent some good time with everyone enjoying food, games, football, and playing with Boyd. I loved to see all the support Cam had, even if he denies that he was excited for the day. I'm pretty sure I was more excited than he was! That is quite typical for us though, haha! Boyd was the best boy all weekend and was so well behaved at the ceremony. He sat quietly and played with his popper toy.

I'm predicting this next year will feel like both the longest, and shortest year. The countdown to our time ending here has begun with Cam receiving his white coat, and I, for one, cannot wait to move on to the next chapter of our lives (away from the Quad Cities!). It will feel like an eternity as we wait to figure out where Cameron will precept, and where we will end up. We have several options in Utah and I am well pleased with that! What will make the year go by quickly will most likely be the fact that our little Todd will be joining us in February. I do not doubt that tending to TWO little boys will make my time seem like it is disappearing! Even just taking care of Boyd has made this pregnancy feel like it is flying by, I can hardly believe that I am over halfway at this point!

To this last year in the Quad Cities, bring it on!

Welcome to "Notes From the Neilson Home", brought to you by yours truly, Olivia!

I am starting this blog with the intent to journal more about the happenings of our lives and hopefully better document our growing family. I truly cherish the blog my mother kept from my early childhood and hope to update this blog often enough to have our family's daily doings not forgotten.

Where we are all at now:

Cameron
Currently finishing up his sixth trimester at Palmer College of Chiropractic. He is killing it at school and is working hard to be able to someday provide for our family! He is in to playing disc golf with his friends, eating at Smash Pizza as much as often, watching college football, and being the best Dad to Boyd.

Boyd
2 years old and thriving! He is starting to talk more and more everyday and we are absolutely obsessed (and quickly realizing we need to watch what we say around him!). His current favorite activities include, but are not limited to: playing in water, building magnetiles, playing with trains/cars, reading books, eating snacks, watching Monsters Inc/Cars/Boss Baby/Wall-e/Sing 2/Spiderman, playing with his Dad and Mom. He is pure joy!

Olivia
I am doing my best to survive pregnancy with a toddler! I am about halfway through this pregnancy and am due with our second boy in February 2026. I spend most of my time taking care of Boyd, doing crafts, and running errands. Nothing too exciting, but I enjoy it all!

Here's to hoping I actually remember to write down stories and post to this blog!
